The Trump administration introduced its zero tolerance immigration policy in the spring of 2018, which led to child separations at the southern US border. In June, allegations began circulating on social media that Akal Security, Inc., one of the for-profit companies established by Yogi Bhajan under the SSSCorp (Siri Singh Sahib Corporation), was involved in these inhumane ICE operations. Akal has issued one statement dated June 26, 2018, which includes the claim that they have had no role in child separations and that they conduct a humane operation at a facility in Miami. The website provides no detailed information regarding Akal's role or practices in immigrant detention. Even if Akal has no direct involvement in inhumane treatment of asylum seekers, the increasing privatization of incarceration combined with the rhetoric and policies of the current administration make it necessary to end all connections with human detention.

I believe the urgency and seriousness of the migrant crisis, political rhetoric, and human detentions have made it necessary to create public pressure for swift action. It is my prayer that this pressure will come from within our community so that we may uphold the values we believe in.

I created this social media campaign to empower other concerned members of the 3HO/Sikh Dharma community to lend an effective voice to this issue. Let our actions going forward be aligned with Aquarian Age principles of openness, collaboration, inclusion, and upliftment. Let us seek change from a place of compassion, trust, and consciousness in the light of Guru Ram Das.
